thanks for writing this. I was thinking I had to, one of these “camps” get up and give a broadcast lesson to podcasters.

Sure, many podcasters are brilliant and experts, but they are UNLISTENABLE.

I pretty much only listen to Leo, because he’s a broadcaster who podcasts, not “someone” who podcasts.

You’re talking about listening to the audio of the podcast, but it’s also a good idea to subscribe to the feed in your podcast aggregator of choice, and if it’s not iTunes, then subscribe in iTunes (or whatever happens to be most popular when you’re reading this). As the producer of the podcast, you’re more likely to know that the feed is broken than someone who just consumes it, since you know that you’ve posted it whereas your listeners might not. This also goes for your blog: subscribe to your own feed, so that you can see what your readers see.

Hmmm…that supervision the broadcaster has, generally is just one ego that is pleased with themselves…they are called ‘editors.’

John…great post. And, yes, in any endeavor, you should always check your own quality. If you work at a restaurant, you should eat the food you cook or serve…if you make clothes, you should try them on. If its crap, why would you expect someone else to buy it?
