Hi John,

I don't think my trackbacks work from Blogger to WordPress so here's a link where I link to this post. I give you kudos for supporting the Cambie merchants!

It's true that they knew it was coming, and the olympics were the momentum to get it done like they have. They've been talking about the RAV line for a long time, and just when it seemed like it wouldn't get done, they ramped up the planning and went forward with the project. There wasn't that much time to prepare for it, but that's not to say that more time would have been the answer.

It's going to be tough no matter the would've and could've.

Portland OR is undergoing a load of major construction in the downtown core as well...with numerous businesses caught up in the middle. However, there are many businesses that knew this was coming, because of the multitude of hearings, etc., it takes to do any sort of construction anymore. They closed and moved... Why risk your business with a lengthy construction site on your doorstep, when you can let your lease expire and probably get a better deal somewhere else with more traffic?

I realize this isn't an option for many...but, these people cannot claim 'ignorant' that this was going to happen. They knew it was coming.

Oh...and just wait until the Olympics. ;-/
