http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Baun

His highest single-season goal total was eight in 1959-60. However, Baun will forever be remembered for scoring the overtime winner in game six against the Detroit Red Wings in the 1964 playoffs on April 23. Earlier in that same game, he had had his ankle broken. He then returned from his injury in overtime to score the game winner. The Leafs won the next game, game seven, 4-0 for their third consecutive Stanley Cup.

I used to do these things as a kid. Wake up...get to the store as early as possible to get my spot in line to see the players of my favorite team. I met every member of the 76-77 NBA Champion Portland Trailblazers that way. I went to a store and saw some guy sitting alone at a table, waiting to sign autographs for nobody that came. I walked up, got a picture signed, shook his hand...the guy was Oscar Robertson; the Big 'O'.

Those days are gone...now, you have to pay to see these guys for the most part. That is why I think this event you guys went to was so cool...you didn't have to pay to have the 'privilege' of shaking these guys hands. THAT is what separates hockey from all the other sports today.

You think I'd be able to stand in line at a JC Penney store and meet the 07-08 Trailblazers?? I think not...

Bobby Baun...I have a video of a Stanley Cup finals game ...forget the year. Baun goes hard into the boards and quietly limps off the ice...you catch a glimpse of him heading to the locker room. 5 minutes later, he is back on the ice. Game goes into OT and Baun scores the game winner. Diagnosis?? Broken ankle. Came back and played the next game. That is one tough MF you shook hands with.
